Pilgrimage Resumes After Brief Suspension
There is good news for devotees planning to visit the sacred shrine of Vaishno Devi Temple. Authorities have resumed the pilgrimage after it was temporarily suspended due to a sudden surge of pilgrims during the auspicious Navratri period.
Officials said the yatra was halted briefly when the number of devotees visiting the shrine increased rapidly. The suspension was implemented as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of pilgrims and prevent overcrowding at the Bhawan area.
After crowd management measures were put in place and the situation stabilized, the authorities reopened the pilgrimage route and allowed devotees to continue their journey.
Heavy Rush During Navratri Festival
The rush of pilgrims increased significantly due to the ongoing Navratri celebrations, one of the most important religious festivals for devotees of Goddess Durga. Thousands of pilgrims arrived in Katra, the base town for the Vaishno Devi Yatra, to seek blessings at the holy shrine.
Officials reported that more than 39,000 devotees had visited the shrine in a single day during the festival period, prompting authorities to temporarily halt the pilgrimage to manage the large crowd.
After reviewing the situation and strengthening security and crowd-control arrangements, the Shrine Board allowed the yatra to resume from the next morning.
Registration and Safety Arrangements for Pilgrims
The administration has resumed registration for the pilgrimage at the base camp in Katra. Devotees can obtain their yatra slips and proceed toward the shrine located in the Trikuta Hills of Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities have implemented multiple safety arrangements to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience. These include multi-layer security checks, medical facilities along the route, drinking water arrangements, sanitation services, and emergency response teams for pilgrims.
Officials have advised devotees to follow all guidelines and complete the required registration before starting their journey.
Infrastructure and Facilities Improving for Devotees
In recent years, several steps have been taken to improve facilities for pilgrims visiting the shrine. These include better crowd management systems, medical centers, improved signage along the trekking route, and digital monitoring systems for safety.
The shrine board has also introduced modern technology such as RFID tracking cards and CCTV monitoring to manage the large number of pilgrims visiting the shrine each year.
