Delay in New NCERT Books Creates Academic Disruption

More than a month has passed since the new academic session began in schools of Chandigarh, yet students of Class 9 are still waiting for updated NCERT textbooks. The delay has created significant challenges, especially because the syllabus has been revised under the new education framework. Teachers are struggling to conduct classes effectively and are relying on old notes and reference materials to continue lessons.

This gap in textbook availability has affected the learning pace and left both students and teachers uncertain about completing the syllabus on time.

Holiday Homework Adds to Student Anxiety

Summer vacations in schools are scheduled from May 23 to June 30. However, students and parents are increasingly worried about how holiday homework will be completed if the books are not distributed before the break.

Without proper study material, students fear they may fall behind academically or struggle to understand assignments given during the vacation period.

Education Department Responds

According to education officials, textbooks are being supplied to schools as they are received from NCERT. Authorities have expressed confidence that the supply will normalize soon.

NCERT has also clarified that the delay is due to high demand for newly introduced books aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Printing is being carried out on a large scale to meet requirements.

Digital Alternatives Available for Students

To address the issue, NCERT has uploaded digital versions of Class 9 textbooks on its official website, allowing students to access them for free.

Additionally, NCERT sales counters in New Delhi are open even on weekends, enabling parents to purchase books directly. While this offers temporary relief, not all students have equal access to digital resources.
