CMF Buds Neo Review: 52-Hour Battery, 35dB ANC, and Aggressive Pricing Make It a Budget King

Date:

The sub-Rs 2,000 wireless earbud segment used to be a compromise zone. Consumers had to pick between fragile build quality and subpar audio performance. Premium features like Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), dual-device pairing, or multi-day battery endurance were completely off the table. The CMF Buds Neo change that balance completely, introducing high-end feature sets at an accessible Rs 1,999 price tag.

Bold Design Language and Solid Build Quality

CMF brings a fresh aesthetic to an otherwise repetitive product space. Instead of copying standard white stem designs, the Buds Neo feature a square-ish charging case paired with two-tone color options and a signature circular dial element. The construction relies on sturdy plastic materials with a matte finish that resists fingerprints. While the earbuds carry an IP54 dust and splash resistance rating, the charging case features IPX2 protection, keeping the set safe during workouts or mild rainfall.

Audio Performance and Bass Control

At the center of the acoustic setup is a 12.4mm dynamic driver equipped with a titanium-coated PET dome and a flexible PEEK plus PU surround. This configuration yields a energetic sound profile suited for pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. Low frequencies pack plenty of punch without overwhelming vocals or mid-range clarity. Users can customize sound through the Nothing X app, which provides six EQ presets alongside a custom equalizer and a three-level Bass Enhancement tool.

Active Noise Cancellation and Spatial Audio

Offering up to 35dB of adaptive Active Noise Cancellation, the Buds Neo successfully cut down low-frequency ambient sounds such as air conditioner hums, fan noise, and steady urban traffic background noise. While high-frequency sounds and close-range human voices remain audible, the noise reduction is significant for the price. Additionally, static spatial audio support creates a wider acoustic sound field for watching movies and live video performances.

Battery Life and Charging Capabilities

Endurance stands out as one of the strongest traits of the Buds Neo. Disabling ANC allows the earbuds to stream audio for up to 11 hours on a single charge, expanding to 52 hours total with the charging case. Turning ANC on drops performance to 8 hours for the earbuds and 30 hours overall. Fast charging via USB-C provides up to 5.5 hours of playback from a quick 10-minute charge, though users will need to supply their own charging cable.

Software Integration and Connectivity

Connectivity features include Bluetooth 6.0 with support for standard AAC and SBC audio codecs, paired with Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair. Through the Nothing X app, users get access to dual-device connectivity for seamless switching between laptops and smartphones. The app also allows customizable touch controls and a dedicated 120ms low-latency gaming mode designed for casual gameplay.

Final Verdict: Exceptional Value for Money

The CMF Buds Neo deliver outstanding utility for budget-conscious buyers. While hardcore gamers may prefer lower latency setups and audiophiles may seek higher-resolution codecs, these earbuds offer high-value everyday features, long battery endurance, usable ANC, and stylish industrial design at an unbeatable price point.
