WhatsApp Introduces New Message Limit Feature to Reduce Spam

Date:

WhatsApp’s Growing Popularity

WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging apps globally, with billions of users relying on it for daily communication. Whether it’s chatting with friends, participating in work group chats, or sharing important information, WhatsApp has become an integral part of daily life. Its main strengths are speed, ease of use, and reliability.

Spam Messages Becoming a Concern

In recent years, with the addition of features like Communities, Groups, and other tools, the app has become slightly cluttered. As a result, users often receive spam messages, especially from business accounts and strangers.

New Feature to Limit Messages

To tackle this problem, Meta is introducing a new feature. Business accounts and unknown contacts will be restricted to sending a limited number of messages before receiving a response. For example, if someone sends you three messages without a reply, they will have reached their message limit. Once the limit is reached, they will not be able to send any further messages.

Warning Messages for Users Approaching the Limit

When a user approaches the message limit, WhatsApp will display a warning, informing them that they cannot send more messages. The exact number of messages allowed has not been disclosed yet, as this feature is still under testing in various countries.

Impact on Regular Users

This limit primarily applies to business accounts and spammers and will not affect regular users. WhatsApp has already introduced several anti-spam measures, such as limiting the number of forwarded messages and applying restrictions on broadcast messages.
