Enforcement Directorate teams conduct searches at the Sector 19 residence of former GMADA Chief Administrator Rajiv Gupta
Chandigarh, September 23, 2026: Enforcement Directorate (ED) teams conducted a search at the Chandigarh residence of senior Punjab IAS officer and former Chief Administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), Rajiv Gupta, on Wednesday.
According to reports, ED officials reached Gupta’s residence in Sector 19 early in the morning and began conducting searches as part of an ongoing investigation.
The action comes a day after the central agency conducted searches at the GMADA office in Mohali and several other locations across Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi. The wider investigation is reportedly linked to alleged financial irregularities involving GMADA-related transactions.
According to The Tribune, the ED’s wider operation covered 27 locations and was linked to suspected irregularities involving more than Rs 100 crore. The report said Gupta’s Chandigarh residence was among the locations searched.
The ED action has focused attention on transactions and decisions associated with GMADA. Officials have reportedly been examining documents and electronic records as part of the investigation.
At present, there has been no official announcement from the ED regarding any arrest or final findings in connection with the searches. The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected as the agency completes its examination of records and other material.
The searches at GMADA and the residence of a former senior official have also drawn political reactions in Punjab, with different parties offering differing interpretations of the central agency’s action. These claims remain matters of political contention and should be distinguished from the investigative findings themselves.
