Asia Cup 2025 Final: Mohsin Naqvi Creates Drama, Demands Sourav Yadav Visit ACC Office for Trophy

Date:

Trophy Dispute Continues Despite India’s Victory

Following India’s win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, the much-anticipated trophy presentation has not yet taken place. Mohsin Naqvi, head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, continues to create controversy by refusing to hand over the trophy to the Indian team.

  • Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav reportedly refused to accept the trophy directly from Naqvi after the final.

  • Naqvi has now made a new demand, stating that Yadav must personally visit the ACC office to collect the trophy.

BCCI’s Appeal Rejected

According to Pakistani media reports:

  • The BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla’s appeal for a smooth trophy handover was rejected by Naqvi.

  • This development has left the Indian team without their medals and trophy even after winning the final.

India-Pakistan Matches and Controversy

  • The tournament featured three India-Pakistan matches, all won by India.

  • Reports indicate that Indian players did not shake hands with Pakistani players, resulting in public humiliation for Pakistan.

  • After the final, Naqvi reportedly retained the medals and trophy with him, delaying the formal presentation to the Indian team.

BCCI’s Next Steps

  • BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia has already written to the ACC requesting the trophy and medals be sent to Dubai ACC office, but has received no response.

  • If a mutually acceptable solution is not found, BCCI may escalate the matter to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
