Film Release Delayed Amid Box Office Competition
The much-anticipated horror-comedy film Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla has officially been postponed. The film, directed by Priyadarshan, was originally scheduled to release on April 10, 2026. However, the makers have decided to push the release date by one week due to the massive box office success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
The decision has been taken strategically to ensure that both films get enough screen space in theatres. The producers believe that avoiding a direct clash will allow the film to perform better at the box office.
Paid Previews to Begin on April 16
While the release date has been shifted, the makers have announced special paid previews starting from April 16 at 9 PM. This move is aimed at building excitement among fans ahead of the full theatrical release.
The film will now officially hit theatres on April 17, 2026, giving audiences an early opportunity to watch the movie through preview screenings a day earlier.
Strategic Decision by Producers
Producer Ekta Kapoor shared that the decision to postpone the release was taken after discussions with distributors and exhibitors across major markets. According to the production team, the goal is to ensure a smooth theatrical run and better audience reach.
With Dhurandhar: The Revenge currently performing strongly at the box office, exhibitors requested the makers to allow that film an uninterrupted run for a week before introducing another major release.
A Reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan
Bhooth Bangla marks the much-awaited reunion of actor Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan, who have previously delivered several popular films together. Fans are excited to see the duo collaborate again after many years.
The film is expected to be a blend of horror and comedy, promising a family-friendly entertainment experience. Early promotional material, including the teaser and songs, has already generated considerable buzz among audiences.
Star-Studded Cast Raises Expectations
Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film features a strong ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jisshu Sengupta, and Mithila Palkar.
The film is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures in collaboration with Cape of Good Films. Industry analysts believe the combination of a strong cast, comedy-horror theme, and nostalgic collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan could make the film one of the most talked-about releases of the year.
Fans Await Theatrical Release
Despite the delay, excitement around the film remains high. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Akshay Kumar in a new comedic avatar in this horror-comedy entertainer.
With paid previews scheduled and a new release date confirmed, the film is expected to attract strong footfall in theatres once it arrives on the big screen.
