Delhi-NCR CNG Prices Hiked Again, Cross Rs 81/kg Amid Fuel Cost Surge

Date:

Rising Fuel Prices Continue Across India

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices in Delhi-NCR have increased once again, marking the third hike within just 10 days. The latest increase of Re 1 per kilogram has pushed CNG prices in Delhi to Rs 81.09 per kg, creating additional pressure on commuters and transport operators.

The revision comes shortly after petrol and diesel prices were also raised across the country. Oil companies are gradually increasing fuel rates due to rising global crude oil prices and ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

New CNG Prices in Major Cities

Following the latest revision, CNG prices in several cities have been updated:

  • Delhi – Rs 81.09 per kg
  • Noida – Rs 89.70 per kg
  • Ghaziabad – Rs 89.70 per kg
  • Gurugram – Rs 86.12 per kg
  • Greater Noida – Rs 89.70 per kg
  • Ajmer – Rs 90.44 per kg

This is the third consecutive increase after earlier hikes on May 15 and May 18. Earlier this month, CNG prices in Delhi were below Rs 79 per kg, but continuous revisions have now pushed rates above Rs 81.

Petrol and Diesel Also Become Costlier

Along with CNG, petrol and diesel prices have also seen fresh increases. Petrol prices in Delhi rose by 87 paise per litre, while diesel prices increased by 91 paise per litre.

After the latest revision:

  • Petrol in Delhi costs Rs 99.51 per litre
  • Diesel in Delhi costs Rs 92.49 per litre

Fuel prices have risen nearly Rs 5 per litre in less than two weeks, adding to inflation concerns across the country.

West Asia Tensions Affecting Energy Markets

The latest hike is being linked to instability in global energy markets caused by tensions in West Asia and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz. India imports a large portion of its crude oil requirements, making domestic fuel prices sensitive to international developments.

Experts believe that rising crude oil prices and supply disruptions are increasing operational costs for oil marketing companies, which are now passing some of the burden on to consumers.

Impact on Public Transport and Daily Commuters

The increase in CNG prices is expected to directly impact public transportation costs in Delhi-NCR. Thousands of buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws operate on CNG, and transport operators may soon demand fare hikes to offset rising fuel expenses.

Daily commuters and middle-class households are likely to feel the impact as transportation and delivery costs increase further. Experts also warn that repeated fuel price hikes could contribute to higher retail inflation in the coming weeks.
