iOS 27 May Let iPhone Users Create AI Wallpapers and Smart Shortcuts

Date:

Apple Inc. is reportedly preparing major artificial intelligence upgrades for its next iPhone software update, iOS 27. According to recent reports, the update may allow users to generate custom wallpapers using AI and create automations in the Shortcuts app simply by typing natural language commands. These features are expected to be part of Apple’s broader Apple Intelligence initiative, which aims to make iPhones more personalized and productive.

Apple Working on AI-Powered Wallpaper Generator

One of the most exciting rumored features in iOS 27 is an AI wallpaper generator integrated directly into the wallpaper selection menu. This tool is expected to use Image Playground, Apple’s image creation application introduced with Apple Intelligence.

Instead of downloading wallpapers from third-party apps, users may be able to type prompts such as “sunset over mountains” or “futuristic city at night” and instantly generate unique backgrounds for their iPhones. Apple is reportedly testing improved image models capable of producing more realistic and visually appealing artwork than the current Image Playground styles.

Shortcuts App Could Become Much Easier to Use

Another major enhancement could arrive in the Shortcuts app. Currently, creating automations requires users to manually build workflows by selecting different actions and connecting them together.

In iOS 27, Apple is said to be developing a natural language interface that will let users describe what they want, such as:

  • “Turn on Low Power Mode when battery drops below 20%.”
  • “Send a message to my family when I leave work.”
  • “Play relaxing music every night at 10 PM.”

The system would then automatically generate the required shortcut, making automation accessible even for beginners.

Part of Apple’s Bigger AI Strategy

These rumored features are part of Apple’s continued investment in Apple Intelligence. The company has been gradually introducing AI-powered tools including Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, and enhanced Siri functionality.

With iOS 27, Apple appears focused on practical uses of AI that improve daily productivity and customization rather than flashy experimental features. The new wallpaper generator and AI-powered Shortcuts are expected to help users save time and create more personalized experiences on their devices.

Expected Announcement at WWDC 2026

Apple is likely to unveil iOS 27 during Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2026, which begins on June 8, 2026. The first developer beta is expected immediately after the keynote, while the public release should arrive in September alongside new iPhone models.

Not all features may be available in the initial beta, and some AI capabilities could be limited to newer iPhones that support Apple Intelligence.

What This Means for iPhone Users

If these reports prove accurate, iOS 27 could significantly improve the iPhone experience by:

  • Allowing users to create custom AI-generated wallpapers
  • Simplifying automation through natural language prompts
  • Expanding Apple Intelligence features
  • Making iPhones more personalized and productive

These updates could help Apple better compete with other tech companies that already offer advanced AI-powered customization tools.
