Sharp Rise in Temperature Across Punjab

Punjab is witnessing a significant rise in temperature as summer intensifies earlier than usual this year. According to the latest update, most districts in the state have recorded a sharp increase in daytime temperatures, with several cities crossing the 35°C mark.

Bathinda recorded the highest temperature at around 41.4°C, while Patiala and Ludhiana also experienced intense heat, with temperatures hovering close to 40°C. Other regions such as Rupnagar and SBS Nagar reported temperatures above 37°C, indicating a widespread heatwave-like condition across the state.

Current Weather Conditions and Data

Meteorological data shows that the average temperature in Punjab has increased by approximately 1.8°C in the last 24 hours, which is about 3.5°C above normal levels. This consistent rise highlights the strengthening grip of summer across the region.

In fact, nearly 18 cities in Punjab have recorded maximum temperatures exceeding 35°C. This trend indicates that heat is gradually spreading across all districts, making it uncomfortable for residents during daytime hours.

Weather Forecast for the Coming Days

The weather department has predicted that there will be little relief from the heat in the coming days. Dry weather conditions are expected to continue, which may further increase temperatures across the state.

However, there is a possibility of slight weather changes in some areas due to atmospheric disturbances. These changes may bring temporary relief, but overall conditions are expected to remain hot and dry.

Yellow Alert Issued in Several Districts

A yellow alert has been issued in districts including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, and Nawanshahr. In these areas, there is a possibility of lightning, gusty winds (30–40 km/h), and light rainfall.

These weather activities may bring short-term relief but could also lead to sudden changes, requiring caution among residents.

Advice for Residents

With rising temperatures, people are advised to take precautions to protect their health. It is recommended to:

  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
  • Avoid going out during peak afternoon hours
  • Wear light and breathable clothing
  • Take special care of children and elderly individuals

Heat-related illnesses can increase during such conditions, so preventive measures are essential.
