Uber Introduces A Unique Motorsport Experience In Japan
Ride-hailing giant Uber has introduced a thrilling new experience in Japan called “Uber Drift,” allowing tourists to enjoy professional drifting rides inside legendary Japanese performance cars. The limited-edition attraction has been launched in Tokyo and is already gaining attention among car enthusiasts and international travelers.
The experience is part of Uber’s global “Go Anywhere” initiative, which focuses on creating unique tourism-based experiences around the world. This is also the first time Uber has launched such a project in the Asia-Pacific region.
What Is Uber Drift?
Uber Drift is designed around Japan’s famous drifting culture, a motorsport style that became popular in the 1970s. In drifting, drivers intentionally slide cars sideways while maintaining full control at high speed around corners.
Through this experience, tourists can witness professional drifting from inside specially modified Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) cars without arranging expensive motorsport events separately. Uber aims to make Japan’s underground car culture more accessible for visitors.
Half-Day Adventure Starts From Tokyo
The adventure begins with pickup service from the guest’s accommodation in Tokyo through an Uber Black premium vehicle. Participants are then taken to the famous Mobara Twin Circuit, a well-known motorsport track loved by drifting fans.
At the venue, guests receive nearly 90 minutes of combined driving and passenger ride sessions. The activity is fully managed inside a controlled track environment for maximum safety and excitement.
Nissan Silvia S15 And 180SX Included In Experience
Uber has partnered with Formula Drift-licensed professional drivers for the sessions. Tourists will sit in the passenger seat while expert drivers perform tandem drifting routines around the circuit.
The experience includes rides in iconic drift machines such as the Nissan Silvia S15 and Nissan 180SX, both highly respected in the global JDM and tuning communities.
Booking Details And Safety Guidelines
Uber Drift bookings are available for private groups of one to four people. The number of laps can either be shared among participants or used by a single guest.
For safety purposes, participants must wear long-sleeved clothing, full-length trousers, and closed-toe shoes. Helmets will be provided at the track by organizers.
Uber Drift Price And Availability
Bookings for the Uber Drift experience opened on May 27, 2026. The event will run from June 3 to July 1, 2026, with limited slots available every day.
Uber has fixed the price at 30,000 Japanese Yen per group, which is approximately Rs 18,000 in Indian currency. Only four groups will be allowed each day, making the experience highly exclusive.
Why Uber Drift Is Becoming Popular
The growing popularity of Japanese car culture worldwide has made Uber Drift an attractive option for travelers looking for something beyond regular sightseeing. From drifting action to legendary JDM cars, the experience combines tourism, motorsport, and entertainment in a unique way.
Car enthusiasts visiting Japan during this period may see Uber Drift as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience authentic Japanese drifting culture firsthand.
