Two Killed in Car and Knife Attack in Manchester

In Manchester, UK, two people were killed in a car and knife attack near a synagogue (Jewish place of worship). Police confirmed that the suspected attacker was shot on the spot.

The attack occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.


PM Starmer Cuts Short Denmark Trip to Return

Prime Minister Keir Starmer was attending a leaders’ summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, but he cut his visit short and returned to the UK following the incident.
Upon reaching his office, PM Starmer chaired an emergency meeting regarding the attack.
The meeting included Mark Rowley, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, and Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy.


Details of the Attack

Authorities received information about the attack around 9:31 AM BST on Thursday. A car was reportedly driving toward people, and a security guard was stabbed in the incident.

The attack took place at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue, located in a predominantly Jewish area roughly six kilometers from central Manchester.
