Xiaomi Unveils 17 Ultra Flagship Smartphone with Leica Camera and Robust Battery

Tech company Xiaomi has launched its new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, in its home market, China. This high-end device features a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a 200-megapixel camera system, and a substantial 6800mAh battery. The smartphone is offered in three storage variants, with a starting price of approximately ₹89,450 (6999 Yuan).

Advanced Imaging and Display

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is equipped with a sophisticated Leica lens system for photography. The rear panel houses a triple camera setup, including a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 1050L main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 200-megapixel 3.2-4.3x periscope telephoto lens, capable of 8K video recording. For selfies and video calls, the phone features a 50-megapixel front camera.

The device showcases a 6.9-inch 2K (2608 x 1200 pixels) M10 OLED display. This screen operates at a 120Hz refresh rate, boasts 1920Hz PWM dimming, and achieves a peak brightness of 3500 nits. It also supports Dolby Vision and DC dimming, complemented by an in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 for protection.

Performance and Power

Running on Xiaomi Hyper OS 3.0, based on Android 16, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s 3-nanometer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 octa-core processor, clocking up to 4.6GHz. It integrates a Hexagon NPU for AI capabilities and an X85 5G modem RF system for enhanced network connectivity. Graphics are handled by an Adreno 840 GPU. The smartphone also features a 3D Dual Channel IceLoop System, offering 50% better thermal cooling compared to its predecessor.

A 6800mAh battery provides power backup, supported by 90W fast charging and 50W wireless charging technologies. The phone also includes reverse wireless charging. Additional features comprise an infrared sensor, four microphones, and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers. For connectivity, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and satellite communication. Notably, the phone can connect to and control Apple iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. Xiaomi is preparing to launch the 17 series, including the 17, 17 Pro, and Pro Max models, in India in 2026, following their recent showcase in Delhi.
