Weather Alert: Cold to Intensify Again, Rain and Snowfall Expected in Next 24 Hours

Date:

Weather Pattern Set to Change

The weather across several parts of North India is once again preparing for a major shift. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature is expected to drop sharply within the next 24 hours as a fresh western disturbance becomes active. This change will bring cold winds, cloud cover, and a significant fall in day and night temperatures.

Rainfall and Snowfall Warning Issued

The department has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in the plains and snowfall in higher-altitude regions. States like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and parts of Punjab and Haryana are likely to witness intense weather activity. Mountain areas may receive heavy snow, while low-lying regions can expect continuous rain.

Cold Wave Conditions Likely

With rain and snowfall, cold wave conditions are expected to intensify. Minimum temperatures may fall by 3–5 degrees Celsius, making mornings and nights extremely chilly. Dense fog may also develop in several regions, reducing visibility and impacting road, rail, and air traffic.

Impact on Daily Life

The sudden weather change could disrupt normal life. Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect standing crops. Travelers heading to hill stations are advised to remain alert and follow local administration guidelines due to possible road blockages caused by snowfall.

Weather Department Advisory

Authorities have urged people to stay indoors during extreme weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep themselves updated with official weather bulletins. Emergency services are on alert in sensitive areas.
