CIA Staff Act on Intelligence Input, Two Arms Suppliers Arrested in Moga

Date:

Police Act Swiftly on Intelligence Tip-Off

Moga (Punjab) police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) wing, as part of its ongoing “War Against Gangster” campaign, acted on a critical intelligence input on Feb 27, 2026, to arrest two alleged illegal arms suppliers linked with cross-border smuggling.

According to police, the accused — identified as Lakhwinder Singh and Nishan Singh (both aged between 22–23 and residents of Tarn Taran district) — were actively supplying weapons smuggled from Pakistan into Punjab.

Illegal Weapons Seized

During the arrest operation, CIA staff recovered:

  • 5 pistols

  • 6 magazines

  • 6 live cartridges

These seizures highlight the ongoing threat posed by illegally trafficked firearms and the state’s efforts to cut off such supply networks.

Police sources say that intelligence indicated the accused had connections with smugglers operating across the border and were supplying weapons to various illegal actors within the state.

Police Statement and Next Steps

Moga SSP Ajay Gandhi confirmed in a press briefing that raids and surveillance operations were continued following the input received by CIA staff. Both accused have been taken into custody and are being remanded for further investigation.

He also reiterated that the “War Against Gangster” initiative remained a top priority for Punjab Police, as authorities continue to clamp down on illegal arms and organized crime.

Public Safety and Crime Control

Illegal weapons circulation remains a key concern for law enforcement in border states like Punjab, often targeted by international smuggling networks. Arrests such as these are aimed at strengthening public safety and dismantling dangerous supply chains.
