5-Year-Old Child Falls Into Pond While Playing in Faridkot, NDRF Launches Search Operation

Date:

Tragic Incident in Faridkot Village

A heartbreaking incident has been reported from the Faridkot district of Punjab, where a young child accidentally fell into a pond while playing near his home. The incident occurred in Dhudi village and has left the entire community shocked and saddened.

According to initial reports, the victim was a five-year-old boy who belonged to a financially weak family. The child had stepped outside to play near his house during the late morning hours when the unfortunate incident took place. What began as a normal day for the family quickly turned into a distressing situation that prompted immediate rescue efforts.

Ball Fell Into Pond While Playing

Eyewitnesses and local residents stated that the child was playing with a ball near the pond located close to his house. During the game, the ball accidentally fell into the water. While trying to retrieve it, the child reportedly leaned too close to the edge of the pond.

Unfortunately, he lost his balance and slipped into the water. As the pond is relatively deep and unsafe for children, the boy could not get out on his own. By the time nearby people realized what had happened, the child had already disappeared into the water.

Rescue Efforts Begin Immediately

As soon as the incident came to light, villagers gathered at the spot and informed the authorities. Emergency response teams were alerted and rescue operations were initiated quickly.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team was called to assist in the search operation. Rescue personnel reached the location and began scanning the pond to locate the missing child. Specialized equipment and trained divers were deployed to search the water.

Local administration officials also arrived at the site to monitor the rescue operation and ensure that all necessary resources were available.

Shock and Grief in the Village

The tragic incident has deeply affected the residents of Dhudi village. Neighbors and relatives gathered around the grieving family, expressing their support during this difficult time.

Villagers described the child as cheerful and playful. Many people emphasized the need for better safety around open water bodies like ponds, especially in residential areas where children often play.

Growing Concerns About Safety Near Water Bodies

Incidents like this have once again raised concerns about the safety of ponds and other water bodies in rural areas. Many villages in Punjab have open ponds without protective fencing or warning signs.

Experts believe that preventive measures such as fencing, warning boards, and community awareness can significantly reduce the risk of such tragedies. Parents are also advised to keep a close watch on young children when they play near potentially dangerous locations.

Authorities have assured that the rescue operation will continue until the child is located, and a detailed investigation will follow the incident.
