Delhi Launches Digital Self-Enumeration for Census 2027 Across MCD Wards

Date:

The government of Delhi has taken a major step towards modernizing data collection by launching a digital self-enumeration system for the upcoming Census 2027. This initiative aims to make the census process more efficient, accurate, and citizen-friendly by allowing residents to submit their information online.

What is Digital Self-Enumeration?

Digital self-enumeration is a system that enables citizens to fill out census details themselves through an online platform. Instead of waiting for enumerators to visit homes, residents can log in, provide personal and household data, and complete the process digitally. This approach is expected to reduce errors and speed up data collection.

Implementation Across MCD Wards

The initiative has been rolled out across all Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) wards. Authorities have ensured that the system is accessible and user-friendly so that people from different backgrounds can easily participate. Special support centers and awareness campaigns are also being set up to assist those who may not be familiar with digital tools.

LG Urges Public Participation

Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor has urged residents to actively participate in the self-enumeration process. He emphasized that accurate census data is crucial for effective policymaking, resource allocation, and development planning. Citizens have been encouraged to complete their details honestly and within the given timeline.

Benefits of the Digital Census

The shift to a digital census offers multiple advantages:

  • Faster data collection and processing
  • Improved accuracy and reduced manual errors
  • Greater convenience for citizens
  • Better planning for government schemes and infrastructure

Challenges and Preparedness

While the initiative is promising, challenges such as digital literacy and internet accessibility remain. To address this, authorities are working on awareness drives and providing assistance through local centers to ensure maximum participation.
