International Drug and Arms Network Busted in Amritsar, Major Police Crackdown

Date:

Major Breakthrough for Amritsar Police

In a significant success against organized crime, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled an alleged international drug and arms smuggling network operating in Punjab. The operation resulted in the arrest of key suspects and the recovery of a large quantity of heroin, sophisticated pistols, and live ammunition.

Police officials described the action as an important step in Punjab’s ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and illegal weapons smuggling. The operation was carried out following intelligence inputs regarding suspicious cross-border activities and the movement of illegal consignments.

Heroin, Pistols and Ammunition Recovered

During the operation, police seized more than two kilograms of heroin along with several advanced pistols and live cartridges. According to investigators, the recovered weapons were intended to be supplied to criminal groups operating in different parts of Punjab.

The seizure prevented the narcotics and weapons from reaching the illegal market, where they could have contributed to organized crime and violence. Authorities believe the network was involved in both drug trafficking and the distribution of illegal firearms.

Cross-Border Links Under Investigation

Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals were allegedly in contact with cross-border smugglers. Officials believe the network received consignments through international channels and then distributed them across the state.

Police are examining communication records, financial transactions, and other evidence to identify additional members of the network. Investigators are also trying to determine the full extent of the smuggling operation and its possible connections to foreign handlers.

Punjab’s Ongoing Fight Against Drug Smuggling

Punjab has been facing challenges related to narcotics trafficking for several years. Law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to dismantle organized crime groups involved in smuggling drugs and illegal weapons.

Officials stated that intelligence-based operations, enhanced surveillance, and inter-agency coordination are helping authorities identify and disrupt criminal networks before they can expand their activities. The latest operation is being viewed as another major achievement in the state’s anti-drug campaign.

Further Investigation Continues

Separate cases have been registered, and police teams are working to uncover both the forward and backward links of the network. Investigators are attempting to trace suppliers, distributors, and any individuals who may have facilitated the movement of drugs and weapons.

Authorities have indicated that more arrests may follow as the investigation progresses. The police have reiterated their commitment to eliminating drug trafficking and illegal arms smuggling from Punjab and ensuring public safety.
