Israeli Media Reacts to Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan: “Netanyahu Will Have to Follow Trump’s Lead”

Date:

Trump’s Gaza Ceasefire Proposal Gains Media Attention in Israel

Israeli media has given significant coverage to U.S. President Donald Trump’s “positive stance” on the Gaza ceasefire negotiations. Talks between representatives of Israel and Hamas over Trump’s proposed Gaza peace plan are currently underway in Egypt. These discussions began on October 6, following Trump’s 20-point peace proposal presented to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House in late September.

Trump’s Plan and Israel’s Response

Trump’s plan calls for an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in Gaza and aims to establish long-term peace in the region. Israeli news outlets have credited Trump for his efforts toward restoring peace. According to Ynet News, Israel is very close to securing the release of its hostages, while Haaretz reported that Trump is “fully committed” to implementing the plan. Reports have also noted Netanyahu’s shifting stance in light of Trump’s influence.

“If Hamas Refuses, It Will Be Eliminated”: Trump’s Warning

In an interview with CNN, Trump stated, “If Hamas refuses to relinquish power and control over Gaza, it will be completely destroyed.” Israeli media prominently featured this statement, emphasizing Trump’s firm tone and the urgency he placed on quick negotiations between both sides.

Optimism in Israeli Press Over Gaza Talks

Several Israeli newspapers described the ongoing Cairo talks as a “highly positive step” toward ending the Gaza war. The centrist daily Maariv headlined, “Hope from Cairo,” while Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel’s most widely circulated newspaper, claimed that “90% of the U.S. peace plan has already been finalized.” Liberal newspaper Haaretz added, “There are still many challenges ahead, but for the first time in a long while, there is hope for peace.”
