Karwa Chauth 2025: Puja Muhurat to Last Only a Few Minutes – Check Full Timing Here

Date:

When is Karwa Chauth 2025?

This year, Karwa Chauth will be observed on Friday, October 10, 2025. Married women across India eagerly await this festival, which symbolizes love, devotion, and the long life of their husbands. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna explained the significance of this fast to Draupadi, and Lord Shiva narrated it to Goddess Parvati. The festival is celebrated every year on the Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the Kartik month.

Puja and Fasting Rituals

On this day, married women observe a nirjala fast (without food or water) from sunrise until moonrise. They worship Lord Ganesha, Goddess Parvati, and Moon God (Chandra Dev) and break the fast only after offering water (arghya) to the moon and taking water from their husband’s hands. The fast is believed to strengthen the marital bond and ensure the husband’s long life.

Karwa Chauth Puja Timing and Moonrise Time

  • Puja Muhurat: Evening timing for the Karwa Chauth puja will be of limited duration (exact timing may vary by location).

  • Moonrise Time: The moon will rise at 8:13 PM in Delhi and NCR. (To know the exact time for your city, check your local Panchang.)

Step-by-Step Puja Vidhi (Rituals)

  1. Morning Preparation: Wake up before sunrise, take a bath, and clean the home and puja area.

  2. Sargi Ritual: Consume ‘Sargi’ — the pre-dawn meal gifted by the mother-in-law.

  3. Vrat Sankalp: Take a vow of nirjala fast after invoking Lord Ganesha and Goddess Parvati.

  4. Evening Puja: Perform Karwa Chauth Katha and rituals with full devotion.

  5. Moonrise & Arghya: Offer water to the moon, pray for the husband’s long life, and drink water from his hands to end the fast.
