Devastating Collision Near Haripur Khalsa Gate Ends Family’s Pilgrimage in Grief
A heart-wrenching road crash occurred on the highway near Phillaur in Jalandhar district, taking the lives of three members of a single family. The victims, identified as Vinay Kumar, his wife Suman, and their six-year-old daughter Kavisha, were residents of Bhamian village in Ludhiana district. What was intended to be a peaceful spiritual pilgrimage ended in unspeakable sorrow when a speeding car collided head-on with their Activa scooter early in the morning.
Returning Home After Offering Prayers at Nakodar Shrine
The family had traveled to Nakodar to pay homage at the revered Baba Murad Shah Dargah alongside other relatives. After offering prayers and seeking blessings, the family began their journey back toward Ludhiana on their Activa scooter, while other relatives followed on separate motorcycles. Around 8:30 AM, as they reached the stretch between Haripur and Pratappura villages near the Haripur Khalsa Gate, an oncoming, high-speed sedan vehicle crashed directly into their scooter. The severity of the collision mangled the two-wheeler completely and scattered debris across the road.
Immediate Rescue Efforts and Fatal Consequences
Eyewitnesses and nearby travelers immediately alerted local emergency services and helped retrieve the victims from the crash site. All three family members sustained catastrophic injuries from the violent impact. Emergency medical teams rushed Vinay Kumar, Suman, and young Kavisha to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Phillaur. Upon arrival, attending doctors examined mother and daughter and declared both dead on arrival, noting that neither possessed a pulse or signs of life. Vinay Kumar, critically injured and fighting for survival, was stabilized briefly before being referred to an advanced trauma care unit, but he tragically succumbed to his severe internal injuries shortly afterward.
Statements from Hospital Authorities and Car Occupants
Dr. Tarun from the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Phillaur confirmed the fatalities, stating that Suman and Kavisha had passed away prior to reaching the emergency ward. Meanwhile, occupants of the car involved in the collision also sustained injuries and received medical attention. Ravinder Singh, one of the individuals traveling in the car from Ludhiana toward Noormahal, mentioned that the crash occurred unexpectedly within seconds, leaving the driver no time to maneuver away. Local police officials have launched a thorough investigation, impounded the vehicles involved, and initiated post-mortem procedures to establish the full legal details of the tragedy.
