Online Radicalisation Network Unearthed Across Three States
The Madhya Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has uncovered an alleged Pakistan-linked online radicalisation module operating across multiple Indian states. In a coordinated operation involving intelligence agencies and state police units, three individuals were arrested from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan for their alleged involvement in the network. Investigators believe the module was being managed by a Pakistan-based handler through encrypted online communication platforms.
The operation began after central intelligence agencies shared information regarding suspicious online groups allegedly being used to radicalise and recruit individuals. Acting on these inputs, ATS teams launched investigations and surveillance activities that ultimately led to multiple arrests.
Three Accused Arrested During Investigation
The first arrest was made in Bhopal, where ATS officials detained Mohammad Faraz, a resident of the city’s Qazi Camp area. Further investigations led to the arrest of Nayeem Abdullah Qureshi from Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh and Mohammad Shakir from Rajasthan’s Alwar district. Authorities claim all three were connected through an encrypted online network allegedly controlled by a Pakistan-based operative.
Officials stated that the arrests were carried out through joint efforts involving the Madhya Pradesh ATS, Uttar Pradesh ATS, Special Task Force personnel, and central intelligence agencies. Investigators are also tracking another suspect believed to be linked to the same network.
Encrypted Platforms Allegedly Used for Recruitment
According to investigators, the accused allegedly participated in closed online groups where extremist content, literature, and videos were circulated. These groups reportedly operated through encrypted messaging platforms to avoid detection. Authorities suspect the network was being used to spread radical ideology and influence vulnerable individuals.
Investigators further allege that some members of the network had longstanding connections and were introduced to the online groups through personal contacts. Officials are examining digital communications and online activity to determine the extent of the network and whether additional individuals were involved.
Electronic Devices and Digital Evidence Seized
During the raids and arrests, ATS teams seized multiple electronic devices, including mobile phones and digital storage equipment. Authorities claim that extremist literature, videos, and digital communication records were recovered during the operation. These materials are currently undergoing forensic examination.
Officials believe the analysis of the seized devices may reveal additional links, communication channels, and possible attempts to expand the network’s reach. The investigation remains ongoing, with agencies working to identify all individuals connected to the alleged module.

Security agencies across India have increasingly highlighted the role of social media platforms, encrypted applications, and online forums in the spread of extremist ideologies.
