Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of running a misleading campaign against the state government under the pretext of “Sheesh Mahal 2.0”.
Challenges BJP to Show Proof
In a video statement, Mann challenged BJP leaders to present authentic evidence for their claims and criticized them for trying to divert public attention from Punjab’s real issues.
He said, “Instead of focusing on governance and the people’s welfare, BJP is relying on false propaganda. The rumors about the CM’s Camp Office at Kothi No. 50 in Chandigarh are completely baseless and condemnable.”
Clarification on Official Residences
The CM clarified that since assuming office, Kothi No. 45 has been his official residence and Kothi No. 50 is only a guest house-cum-camp office used for official meetings and for hosting state guests.
He added, “It has not been allotted to anyone. It is used purely for administrative and hospitality purposes.”
“BJP Practicing Low-Level Politics”
Mann accused the BJP of resorting to cheap politics and falsehoods to defame the Aam Aadmi Party government. He claimed BJP is fearful of AAP’s growing influence nationwide, especially in Gujarat.
“Those Who Built Palaces Are in BJP”
He pointed out that leaders like Captain Amarinder Singh and Sukhbir Singh Badal have built huge palaces through illegal funds, yet BJP remains silent about them.
Mann further said, “Those who actually own ‘Sheesh Mahals’ are now in BJP. They never lived in government houses; their staff and aides occupied them illegally.”
“Clean Your Own House First”
Taking a dig at BJP, Mann reminded that Ravneet Singh Bittu, a BJP minister, is illegally occupying a Chandigarh house once allotted to his uncle Tej Parkash Singh. Despite repeated reminders, he said, the Punjab Governor has taken no action.
Mann concluded, “Before pointing fingers at others, BJP should look within.”
