Incident at Bus Stand Parking
A shocking robbery took place in Ludhiana when two unidentified men posing as police officers allegedly robbed a jeweller’s employee of gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. The incident occurred in the parking area of the city’s bus stand, where the accused used the pretext of an investigation to trick the victim and flee with the jewellery.
According to initial reports, the suspects arrived on a motorcycle and approached the victim while he was waiting at the bus stand. They introduced themselves as police personnel and claimed they were conducting a routine check. Using their fake authority, they managed to gain the victim’s trust and asked him to show the contents of his bag.
How the Accused Carried Out the Crime
The jeweller’s employee, who was carrying gold ornaments, was stopped by the two suspects who insisted on checking his belongings. The men took the bag from him and began inspecting it themselves. When they discovered gold jewellery inside, they started asking for purchase bills and related documents.
As the employee tried to contact his employer to provide the necessary information, the accused took advantage of the situation. In a matter of seconds, they fled the spot on their motorcycle along with the bag containing the jewellery.
The victim immediately realized he had been duped and contacted his employer. Soon after, the police control room was informed about the incident.
Jewellery Worth 61 Grams Stolen
The jeweller involved in the case, Kutubuddin Malik from Raikot, revealed that he had sent his employee Ramesh Malik to Ludhiana’s Sarafa Bazaar for business work. The employee was carrying around 61 grams of gold jewellery, including gold bangles, chains, and earrings.
After completing his work in the market, the employee reached the bus stand to return to Raikot. It was at this point that the two suspects approached him and executed the robbery under the guise of a police checking operation.
Police Investigation Underway
Soon after receiving information about the robbery, police officials from the bus stand outpost reached the spot and began investigating the matter. A case has been registered against two unidentified motorcycle-borne suspects.
Authorities are now examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify and track down the culprits. Police officials have assured that efforts are underway to locate the accused and recover the stolen jewellery.
Rising Concern Over Fake Officials
The incident has raised concerns among traders and residents about criminals impersonating law enforcement officers. Such cases highlight the importance of verifying the identity of individuals claiming to be police officers, especially during random checks.
Police have also urged citizens to remain cautious and immediately report suspicious individuals posing as officials.
