Mobile Phone Recovered from Prisoner in Faridkot Jail, Security Concerns Raised Again

Faridkot Jail Witnesses Another Security Breach

Faridkot Central Jail has once again come under scrutiny after a mobile phone was allegedly recovered from an inmate during a routine inspection conducted by jail authorities. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the presence of prohibited items inside Punjab’s prisons and the effectiveness of security measures in correctional facilities.

According to officials, the recovery was made during a surprise search operation carried out by jail staff as part of regular security checks. The inspection was conducted to identify and seize any unauthorized items being used by prisoners.

Mobile Phone Found During Surprise Search

Sources said jail personnel conducted a detailed search of prison barracks and recovered a mobile phone from an inmate. Possession of mobile phones inside jail premises is strictly prohibited under prison regulations.

Officials immediately informed the local police after the recovery. The recovered device has been seized, and authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the prisoner involved. Further investigation is underway to determine how the device entered the jail premises and whether any external assistance was involved.

Case Registered, Investigation Begins

Based on the complaint submitted by jail authorities, a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Prisons Act and other applicable laws. Police officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the recovery.

Investigators are expected to question the inmate and review prison surveillance systems to identify any security lapses. Authorities are also looking into the possibility of a wider network involved in smuggling prohibited items into the prison.

Repeated Recoveries Raise Questions

The latest recovery is not an isolated incident. In recent years, multiple cases involving the seizure of mobile phones and other banned items from inmates in Punjab jails have been reported. Such incidents have repeatedly highlighted challenges faced by prison administrations in preventing the entry of contraband materials.

Security experts believe that regular inspections, advanced scanning systems, and stricter monitoring are necessary to curb such violations. Jail authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring that prison regulations are strictly enforced.

Authorities Promise Strict Action

Officials have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for violating prison rules. They emphasized that surprise checks and security audits will continue to prevent inmates from accessing unauthorized communication devices.

The incident serves as another reminder of the ongoing challenge of maintaining security inside correctional institutions and preventing the misuse of communication devices by prisoners.
