High-Profile Theft in Khanna: Servant and Wife Arrested After Children Reveal Secret

Date:

Shocking Theft Case Surfaces in Khanna

A shocking high-profile theft case has come to light in Khanna city of Punjab, where a trusted domestic worker allegedly stole expensive jewellery from the house of an industrialist family. The incident has raised serious concerns about trust and security inside homes.

According to reports, the accused servant, identified as Nanku alias Pappu Chaudhary, had been working for the family for several years. He was hired during the COVID-19 pandemic to take care of an elderly woman in the household. Over time, he gained the trust of the family and was allowed access to various parts of the house.

However, this trust allegedly turned into an opportunity for theft when the servant discovered that valuable jewellery worth over ₹1 crore had been kept in a cupboard by the family’s daughter, who lives in Dubai.

Jewellery Worth Over ₹1 Crore Reportedly Targeted

Police said the servant gradually planned the theft after learning about the jewellery. He allegedly discussed the plan with his wife, Sapna, and the couple together carried out the crime.

The incident came to light when the family’s daughter returned home and opened the cupboard to prepare for a function. To her shock, most of the jewellery had disappeared. Initially, the family questioned the servant, but he denied any involvement in the theft.

Since there were no signs of forced entry, suspicion began to grow that the theft may have been committed by someone inside the house.

Family Investigation Raises Suspicion

The family started their own inquiry and noticed suspicious changes in the servant’s lifestyle. According to reports, the accused had recently begun constructing a large house in his native village in Uttar Pradesh.

In addition, he was reportedly spending money on expensive mobile phones and branded clothes, which raised further suspicion among the family members.

These developments strengthened the belief that the servant might be involved in the disappearance of the jewellery.

Children’s Statement Reveals Hidden Jewellery

The major breakthrough in the case came from an unexpected source — the servant’s own children.

When family members spoke to the children, they revealed that their father had been digging inside the house premises and hiding jewellery underground. Acting on this information, the family searched the location mentioned by the children.

During the digging, some jewellery items were recovered, confirming that the theft had indeed taken place inside the house.

Police Arrest Husband and Wife

After the matter was reported to the police, Khanna police immediately launched an investigation and arrested both the servant and his wife.

Police officials said the accused couple is currently being interrogated and further recovery of stolen jewellery is expected during the investigation.

During the initial police remand, around five tolas of gold jewellery were recovered. Authorities are also trying to trace the remaining jewellery and determine whether it was sold to someone else.

Accused Had Previous Theft Case

During the investigation, police also discovered that the accused had been involved in a theft case earlier as well.

Officials revealed that a theft case had been registered against him in 2019 in Mandi Gobindgarh. After being released from jail, he had moved to Khanna and started working as a domestic helper.

Police are now examining whether the accused was involved in other theft cases in the region.

Police Continue Investigation

Police authorities stated that further investigation is underway and efforts are being made to recover the remaining jewellery.

The case serves as a reminder of the importance of background verification when hiring domestic workers and ensuring proper security measures at home.
