The Maharashtra Cyber cell has initiated official proceedings to issue a Look-Out Circular (LOC) against popular singer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh. The legal development follows Singh’s failure to appear before investigating officers despite receiving official summons. Authorities are seeking to prevent the artist from departing the country while an active probe remains underway regarding objectionable statements made during a live concert.
Singer Skips Official Summons and Requests Extension
Investigating officers had issued a formal summons directing Honey Singh to appear before the Maharashtra Cyber authorities on October 5 to record his official statement. However, the singer failed to appear on the scheduled date and instead submitted a formal request seeking additional time to present his response. Displeased with the non-compliance and delay, cyber enforcement officials decided to tighten measures to ensure his participation in the ongoing legal investigation.
Controversy over Concert Remarks Sparks Legal Action
The investigative action stems from alleged controversial and objectionable remarks made by the rapper during a live musical performance in Delhi. A video snippet of the concert quickly circulated across social media platforms, sparking public outrage over its inappropriate content. Following widespread backlash and formal complaints, the cyber police registered a case and initiated a inquiry into the matter.
Authorities Plan Arrest Warrant and Look-Out Circular
In light of Singh missing the stipulated deadline, Maharashtra Cyber officials confirmed plans to move the appropriate court to secure an arrest warrant. Concurrently, the process to issue an LOC has been set in motion. Once activated, the Look-Out Circular will alert border control agencies and international airports across India, restricting the artist from leaving the country until he fully complies with the judicial proceedings.
