Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift Revealed: Roxx-Inspired Design and Upgraded Features

Date:

Mahindra is preparing to introduce a major refresh for its iconic 3-door Thar SUV. Following the massive success of the 5-door Thar Roxx, the Indian automaker is set to bring several cosmetic changes and interior enhancements to the 3-door model. These updates aim to keep the off-roader fresh, competitive, and more practical for urban drivers while maintaining its signature ruggedness.

Roxx-Inspired Exterior Redesign

The upcoming Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift will feature noticeable exterior styling revisions heavily influenced by the Thar Roxx. The front fascia is expected to showcase a refreshed multi-slot grille, redesigned LED projector headlamps with integrated C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), and a updated front bumper. On the sides, the SUV is likely to sport a new set of alloy wheels, while the rear section will get updated LED taillamp clusters. These aesthetic tweaks give the 3-door Thar a modern stance without altering its traditional boxy silhouette.

Cabin Upgrades and Feature Enhancements

Inside, the 3-door Thar facelift receives a major cabin overhaul designed to boost convenience and daily usability. Taking cues from the Thar Roxx, the updated interior will feature a revised dashboard, an updated center console layout, and a new three-spoke steering wheel. Higher variants are expected to feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, a wireless smartphone charger, and auto-dimming IRVMs. Mahindra is also focusing on improving overall cabin ergonomics, noise insulation, and steering feel to offer a smoother ride on paved roads.

Retained Powertrains and Off-Road Capability

Under the hood, the Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift will continue with its proven engine options. Buyers can choose between the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine, the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, and the 1.5-litre diesel engine reserved for Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variants. Transmission choices will remain a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The mechanical 4×4 transfer case, low-range gearbox, and impressive water-wading depth will be retained, ensuring the SUV retains its off-road prowess.

Price Expectation and Market Launch

With the addition of advanced technology, enhanced cabin materials, and updated exterior styling, the facelifted 3-door Thar is expected to receive a modest price hike across its variant lineup. The updated model will continue to compete against lifestyle off-roaders like the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
