Rohit Sharma’s Century Virat Kohli’s Fifty Power India to 9-Wicket Win in 3rd ODI vs Australia

Date:

India Finish Series with Strong Win Despite Losing 2-1

India ended the ODI series on a high note, defeating Australia by 9 wickets in the 3rd ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Despite the big win, Australia clinched the three-match series 2-1 after winning the first two games.

Rohit Sharma’s Match-Winning Knock

Skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front with a brilliant unbeaten 121 off 125 balls, including 13 fours and 3 sixes. His controlled yet explosive innings earned him the Player of the Match award.

Virat Kohli’s Steady Support

Alongside Rohit, Virat Kohli played a composed innings of 74 not out from 81 deliveries, hitting 7 boundaries. The duo formed a solid partnership that ensured India’s dominance throughout the chase.

India’s Run Chase and Record Partnership

Chasing 237, India reached the target in just 38.3 overs with 9 wickets to spare. After captain Shubman Gill (24) fell early, Rohit and Virat built an unbroken 168-run stand for the second wicket. This was their first century partnership after nearly five years and nine months, last achieved in January 2020 against the same opponent.

Milestones for Rohit and Kohli

Rohit Sharma registered his 33rd ODI century and ninth against Australia, reaching the milestone with a single in the 33rd over. Virat Kohli, meanwhile, crossed the 2,500-run mark in ODIs against Australia — another record in his illustrious career.
