Starlink’s India Launch Expected Timeline and Pricing Details Revealed

Date:

Starlink’s satellite internet services are expected to launch in India soon. The company has been conducting service trials and is anticipated to make an official launch announcement at any time. Recent major approval in the United States could enable Starlink to double its existing satellite network, potentially benefiting users globally. Discussions are ongoing to finalize the service’s introduction in India.

Expected Services and Speed in India

Starlink has secured a provisional license to launch its service in India. Reports indicate the company may initially offer around 2 million connections in India. This approach is intended to ensure fair competition with other Indian telecommunication firms. Upon launch, Starlink’s internet speed in India is projected to fall within the range of 25-225Mbps. The service aims specifically at areas where consistent connectivity is a higher priority than extremely high speeds.

Projected Costs and Launch Timeline

Customers interested in a Starlink connection might incur a one-time setup cost estimated between ₹30,000 and ₹35,000. Following the setup, monthly plans could range from ₹3,500 to ₹8,000. Regarding the service launch in India, senior leadership from the company is currently in discussions with the Indian government. The service is widely anticipated to receive government approval within the next few months. Starlink owner Elon Musk has expressed enthusiasm for the India launch, highlighting the country as a crucial market for the service.
