A provocative and highly controversial billboard depicting US President Donald Trump lying in an open black coffin has appeared in downtown Tehran. This chilling installation comes at a time when military hostilities and psychological warfare between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran are escalating to unprecedented heights. Unveiled at the iconic Enghelab Square, a historic hub for political propaganda in the Iranian capital, the giant mural has captured global attention and heightened fears of an all-out confrontation.
The installation of the mural follows intense public fury and hardline calls for retaliation within Iran. The display is a direct response to a series of highly volatile events, including the death of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which occurred amid ongoing US military operations.
The Details and Chilling Symbolism Behind the Billboard
The giant mural at Enghelab Square portrays a highly detailed and realistic illustration of Donald Trump. He is shown lying still with his eyes and mouth closed, his hair disheveled, and his hands resting on a red tie over his suit. The coffin itself is draped with the US flag and is surrounded by black concrete barriers—frequently used in Iranian funeral and mourning ceremonies.
What has drawn the most concern internationally is the explicit text splashed across the artwork. Written in both English and Persian, the billboard boldly states: “We Will Kill Trump.” Furthermore, the white graffiti on the display includes the message, “In memory of Minab’s children,” referencing a tragic airstrike on February 28 that hit an elementary school in southern Iran. Experts on West Asian geopolitics note that while anti-American imagery is common in Tehran, such an overt, graphic, and highly personalized death threat on a public state-sponsored billboard is extremely rare and dangerous.
Escalating Rhetoric and Military Action Between US and Iran
The billboard appeared just as military actions between the two adversaries intensified. US Central Command (CENTCOM) recently confirmed a fresh wave of extensive precision strikes targeting Iranian command centers, air defense systems, coastal surveillance facilities, and key port cities like Bandar Abbas.
Simultaneously, President Donald Trump warned that the US is prepared to strike critical Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, unless Tehran returns to negotiations. “We are going to hit them very hard,” Trump stated in an interview. He also claimed that the US naval blockade on Iranian shipping is largely holding, though commercial traffic in the region has plummeted. In response, the Iranian army has vowed a “decisive and imminent” retaliation for the lives lost in recent US strikes.
