Vivek Oberoi Calls ₹4,000 Crore ‘Ramayana’ India’s Answer to Hollywood Epics; Donates His Fee for Cancer-Affected Children

Date:

Vivek Oberoi on His Role in Ramayana

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who plays Vibhishana (Ravana’s younger brother) in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus Ramayana, has shared his excitement about the film. Calling it “India’s answer to Hollywood epics,” Vivek revealed that he would be donating his entire acting fee to help children battling cancer.
“I told producer Namit Malhotra that I don’t want a penny for this. I’ll donate it to a cause I believe in—helping kids with cancer,” Vivek said in an interview with Hindustan Times.

India’s Most Expensive Film Project

Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, is being hailed as the most expensive Indian film ever made. The two-part epic is reportedly being produced at a staggering cost of ₹4,000 crore (around $500 million).
Malhotra said, “When we started, everyone thought I was crazy. But we are creating the largest film in the world for the greatest story ever told. Even then, it’s cheaper than many Hollywood productions.”

Star Cast and Global Collaboration

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Other key roles include Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
Adding to the grandeur, the music is being composed by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Kumar Vishwas.

Technical Brilliance and Fan Hype

Unlike several other big-budget Indian films criticized for poor CGI — such as Adipurush and Kalki 2898 ADRamayana has received overwhelming praise for its announcement teaser. The teaser’s high-quality visuals and cinematic tone have set a new benchmark in Indian cinema.

Release Timeline

The first part of Ramayana is expected to hit theaters during Diwali 2026, followed by the second part during Diwali 2027. The film aims to set new global standards for Indian storytelling and visual excellence.
