Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav’s Big Announcement: Strict Action Against Organized Crime, Drugs, and Gangsters

Date:

Special Meeting on Punjab’s Law and Order

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP Gaurav Yadav) chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials, including STF ADGP, Border Range DIG, and other police officers, to review the law-and-order situation in the state. Following Operation Sindoor, more force has been deployed across sensitive areas due to intelligence inputs about major criminal activities.

Anti-Organized Crime Helpline Launched

The DGP announced the launch of a dedicated Anti-Organized Crime Helpline and appealed to the public to share any information about criminal activities directly with the police.

  • 88 accused have already been arrested in connection with major incidents.

  • Out of 20 murder cases in recent days, 18 accused have been nabbed.

  • Punjab Police has also recovered 1,342 kg of heroin, marking a significant crackdown on drug networks.

Crackdown on Drugs and Weapons

DGP Yadav revealed that along with heroin, a large number of illegal small arms have also been seized. He said that drugs and weapons are being smuggled from foreign countries into Punjab.

  • After recent floods, vigilance has been increased along the border.

  • Police teams are checking locations where border fencing was damaged.

  • Anti-drone systems have been deployed to counter smuggling attempts.

Zero Tolerance Against Extortion and Firing Cases

The Punjab Police will follow a Zero-Tolerance Policy against crimes like extortion, contract killings, and firing incidents. “Such acts will never be tolerated under any circumstances,” DGP Yadav asserted.

Appeal to Punjab’s Youth

The DGP urged young people not to get influenced by drug smugglers, gangsters, or arms suppliers, warning that law enforcement agencies are keeping a strict watch on such networks.
