Chandigarh/Jalandhar (Dhawan): Punjab’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchakk has stated that the quality of paddy arriving in the state’s grain markets (mandis) is excellent, and farmers are receiving payments within 24 hours of the crop being purchased.

Minister Reviews Paddy Procurement in Mandis

After inspecting various procurement centers, the minister said that farmers have been advised to bring their crops fully dried to the mandis. Despite the damage caused by recent floods, the morale of farmers remains high. So far, 11 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have arrived in the mandis across Punjab.

Strict Implementation of CM Bhagwant Mann’s Directives

Kataruchakk added that all purchasing agencies are strictly following the guidelines issued by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding the procurement process. He urged farmers that even if they bring their paddy one day late, it should be completely moisture-free to ensure smooth purchase.

RBI Funding and Disciplinary Action

The minister further said that the Reserve Bank of India is releasing funds for paddy procurement on time. He warned that strict action will be taken against any officials found violating government orders. During his visit, Kataruchakk personally inspected the quality of the paddy and expressed satisfaction over the ongoing procurement process.
