High Alert in Punjab: Intelligence Warns of Terror Plot Targeting Military Installations

Date:

Intelligence Inputs Trigger Massive Security Upgrade Across Border Districts

Security agencies in Punjab have been placed on high alert following intelligence inputs warning of potential terror threats targeting military installations in the border district of Amritsar. According to preliminary reports, intelligence networks flagged suspicious activities near critical defense establishments, prompting immediate counter-measures by state police and federal agencies. While senior officials have not issued a formal public statement regarding the specific nature of the threat, security forces have deployed additional personnel around all sensitive zones and vital infrastructure across the region.

Suspicious Reconnaissance Near Khasa Cantonment Area

Investigations revealed that two suspect operatives allegedly conducted reconnaissance around the Khasa Cantonment and the neighboring Budha Theh region near Amritsar. The intelligence reports indicate that these operatives were gathering details on troop movement and security layouts. This vital information was immediately shared with the Punjab Police, border guarding forces, and central intelligence wings. Following the alert, joint surveillance operations, mobile checkpoints, and intensified patrolling have been activated to neutralize any potential infiltration or attack planning.

Links to Pakistan-Based Gangster Shahzad Bhatti Being Probed

Security networks suspect that the recent reconnaissance and threat activities are linked to the cross-border network managed by Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terror operative Shahzad Bhatti. Bhatti, who operates in coordination with hostile intelligence handlers across the border, has been actively attempting to destabilize regional peace by mobilizing local criminal modules. Security agencies are closely analyzing communication intercepts, digital footprints, and local handler networks to trace any active sleeper cells operating under Bhatti’s directions inside Punjab.

Major Arms Smuggling Racket Busted by Counter Intelligence Amritsar

In a parallel development highlighting the heightened vigilance along the border belt, the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Punjab Police in Amritsar successfully dismantled a major arms smuggling module. Acting on precise intelligence, CI teams intercepted and arrested two individuals hailing from the Tarn Taran district. During search operations, law enforcement officers recovered a significant cache of weaponry, including 10 illegal pistols, multiple magazines, and 10 live cartridges. The quick apprehension of these individuals prevented a potentially dangerous consignment from reaching organized crime or terror networks.

Drones Used for Weapons Delivery from Across the Border

Preliminary interrogations of the arrested suspects revealed that the seized weapons were smuggled into Indian territory using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones deployed from across the Pakistan border. The suspects were operating on the instructions of an overseas handler who tasked them with retrieving the dropped consignments near border villages and distributing them to local criminal operatives. Further investigations are underway to identify the complete chain of handlers, drone drop points, and intended recipients. Defense forces and police continue to maintain extreme alertness along the border belt.
