Record-Breaking Electronics Sales During Festive Season: ₹10,000 Cr+ in Sales

From Navratri to Diwali, Indian consumers went on a shopping spree, especially in the electronics and electrical goods segment. According to data collected by CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) from 35 key distribution centers, sales crossed ₹10,000 crore across the country.

The most popular items included mobile phones, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners.

Union Electronics & IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that sales were 20-25% higher than last year’s festive season.

Notably, 85-inch televisions were sold out, and many families upgraded to new models, reflecting strong consumer confidence and purchasing power.

Youth-Led Smartphone Boom, India Surges Ahead in Exports to USA

Indian youth drove massive smartphone sales, and India has now surpassed neighboring countries in smartphone exports to the United States.

According to official data:

  • Electronics production rose from ₹1.9 lakh crore (FY 2014-15) to ₹11.3 lakh crore (FY 2024-25).

  • Mobile manufacturing grew from ₹18,000 crore to ₹5.45 lakh crore.

  • India is now the 2nd largest mobile phone manufacturer globally.

  • Export surged from ₹1,500 crore to ₹2 lakh crore in a decade.

  • In the first 5 months of FY 2025-26 alone, India exported ₹1 lakh crore worth of smartphones, 55% higher than the same period last year.
