Security Overhaul at Ayodhya Ram Temple: 100% Police Verification Ordered for Staff After Theft Incident

Date:

In a major security overhaul, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has issued strict instructions for compulsory character and police verification of all employees working at the Ram Temple premises in Ayodhya. The decisive enforcement comes in the wake of a recent theft incident inside the temple complex, raising critical questions about internal security protocols. Temple authorities, in coordination with local police, are conducting a comprehensive audit to ensure that every individual deployed on-site passes thorough background scrutiny.

Swift Police Action and Recovery Following Theft

The security crackdown was triggered by a high-profile theft involving a sum of ₹1.15 lakh stolen from the donation accounting section within the temple complex. Taking swift action upon receiving the complaint, the Ayodhya police initiated an investigation and successfully arrested the suspect, identified as Sonu Paswan, a resident of the Kotwali Nagar area. Law enforcement officials managed to recover the entire stolen amount of ₹1.15 lakh from his possession, bringing immediate resolution to the theft investigation while exposing vulnerability points in employee onboarding.

Mandating Complete Police and Character Verification

To address the oversight and prevent future breaches, the Ram Temple Trust alongside local police administration directed that 100 percent of the personnel working within the complex must undergo police verification. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raj Karan Nayyar confirmed that detailed character checks are now mandatory for all existing staff as well as new inductees. Authorities emphasized that no individual will be allowed to render service inside the sacred complex without an verified background check recorded with the local police station.

Strengthening On-Site Surveillance and Access Control

In addition to background checks, temple authorities are introducing enhanced physical and digital surveillance measures. Access control systems across entry gates, administrative offices, and donation counters are being systematically upgraded. Security personnel have been instructed to conduct strict identity validation at all entry checkpoints, ensuring that only credentialed staff with verified profiles gain access to sensitive operational zones.

Collaborative Security Blueprint for Temple Safety

The police administration and the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust are jointly reviewing the comprehensive security blueprint for the entire 70-acre temple complex. Regular joint audits, routine monitoring of surveillance feeds, and periodic re-verification of contractual staff have been integrated into the standard operational procedure. These measures aim to safeguard temple assets, maintain public trust, and provide uncompromised security for millions of visiting devotees.
