Terrifying Incident at Dholewal Chowk
Lawlessness hit a shocking low in Ludhiana as armed miscreants orchestrated a brutal attack outside a popular eatery in the Dholewal area late Wednesday night. A property dealer and former political activist, accompanied by his elderly mother and three-and-a-half-year-old child, became the target of a brazen assault. Around eight armed assailants arrived at the scene in multiple vehicles and launched indiscriminate gunfire. The attackers not only fired multiple rounds directly at the victim’s car in front of his terrified family members but also subjected him to severe physical assault, inflicting grave injuries and attempting to humiliate him.
Restaurant Visit Turns Into Bloody Ambush
According to details provided by the victim, Jagjot Singh, a resident of Miller Gunj, he had visited a local eatery in Dholewal late at night to grab food with his mother, Manjit Kaur, and his toddler son. While they were seated inside their vehicle consuming food, Jagjot stepped out briefly to get drinking water and clear the restaurant bill. Suddenly, several armed individuals stepped out of Scorpio and Innova vehicles, rushing aggressively towards him. Sensing danger, Jagjot managed to duck as the first few rounds of bullets missed him narrowly, prompting him to rush back inside the safety of his car.
Brutal Assault and Desecration Inside Car
Refusing to back down, the attackers surrounded the vehicle and fired multiple gunshots directly through the windows where the elderly mother and minor child were sitting. As Jagjot tried to drive away to save his family, the miscreants smashed the car windows, attacked him with sharp weapons, and struck his head with pistol butts. In an act of extreme brutality, the assailants targeted his religious identity, using a sharp datar to cut his hair while he bled profusely. His mother, who desperately tried to shield her son, was also shoved and manhandled, sustaining facial bruises during the melee.
Escape to Civil Hospital and Ongoing Police Probe
Despite facing heavy gunfire and life-threatening blows, Jagjot gathered immense courage, accelerated his vehicle, and sped straight to the Civil Hospital, where medical professionals immediately initiated emergency treatment. The victim’s vehicle bore multiple bullet holes and extensive damage, with investigators later recovering a bullet casing from inside. Police officials reached the hospital promptly to record statements from the injured victims and initiated a comprehensive manhunt. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being meticulously scanned to identify and arrest the culprits involved in this horrific act.
