How Affordable Is Hero Passion Plus After GST 2.0 Reforms?

Date:

India’s sweeping GST 2.0 tax overhaul has made many everyday vehicles more affordable — especially commuter motorcycles like the Hero Passion Plus. After the GST cut for two-wheelers under 350 cc, prices have dropped significantly, making this popular bike even more budget-friendly for daily riders.

GST 2.0 Reforms: What Changed

In a major reform of the Goods and Services Tax system effective September 22, 2025, the Indian government simplified taxation and cut GST on many goods and services. Two-wheelers with engine capacity up to 350 cc now attract 18 % GST — down from 28 % earlier — reducing the cost for buyers. Meanwhile, higher displacement vehicles face increased GST rates of up to 40 % under the new structure.

This reform aimed to boost demand, simplify compliance, and help everyday consumers by lowering taxes on high-volume products like commuter bikes. Hero MotoCorp also announced it would pass the full GST benefit to customers on select models.

Hero Passion Plus: New Price After GST Cut

Before the reforms, the Hero Passion Plus’s ex-showroom price in Delhi was around ₹83,190. Post-GST cut, the price has come down by about ₹6,500, making it around ₹76,691 (ex-showroom). This translates to a direct saving for customers and helps make daily commuting more affordable.

Engine, Mileage & Features

The Hero Passion Plus continues with its trusted 97.2 cc single-cylinder engine, offering around 7.9 bhp power and 8.05 Nm torque. Equipped with a 4-speed gearbox, the bike claims an impressive 70 km/l mileage, making it a strong choice for cost-conscious riders. Its 11-liter fuel tank supports long daily travels without frequent refueling.

Key Features and Safety

To improve daily usability, Hero Passion Plus includes:

  • i3S start-stop technology

  • Semi-digital instrument display

  • Trip meter, odometer, and fuel gauge

  • USB charging port

  • Side-stand engine cut-off

  • 130 mm drum brakes with Integrated Braking System (IBS)

These features enhance convenience and safety for everyday riding.

How It Compares With Rivals

The Passion Plus competes closely with other 100 cc entry-level bikes like:

  • Honda Shine 100

  • TVS Radeon

  • Bajaj Platina

While these options offer similar utility, Passion Plus stands out with superior fuel efficiency and value-for-money post-GST pricing.
