Maruti eVitara Sees Surging Demand Beyond Tier-1 Cities After ₹10.99 Lakh Launch

Date:

Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV, the eVitara, has witnessed robust buyer interest across India — especially beyond major Tier-1 urban markets — after its competitive launch pricing starting at ₹10.99 lakh with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS). The automaker says the response reflects growing EV adoption in smaller cities and towns following the nationwide push for electric mobility.

Competitive Pricing Drives Interest

Maruti Suzuki priced the eVitara aggressively to appeal to a wider customer base. While the standard version starts at ₹15.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the BaaS price — which excludes battery cost and includes a battery subscription model — makes the electric SUV accessible at ₹10.99 lakh. The company has also introduced a buyback scheme to further attract customers.

Industry insiders believe this pricing strategy has played a key role in increasing demand beyond top metropolitan markets. Interest is particularly strong in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities where EV penetration has historically lagged.

Production and Delivery Constraints

Despite the high demand, current production capacity for the eVitara in India remains limited — only around 2,000 units per month. Maruti Suzuki is balancing domestic orders with global export plans and supply commitments to other OEMs. Production constraints are expected to ease after July 2026, when output is set to increase significantly.

Battery Options and Driving Range

The eVitara is offered with two battery pack options — 49 kWh and 61 kWh — providing a driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge. It is available in three trims, with the top-end Alpha variant priced at around ₹19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

Complimentary Charging Support

To enhance ownership convenience, Maruti Suzuki offers a complimentary 7.4 kW AC home charger with free installation. Additionally, fast chargers are being installed across Nexa outlets nationwide, making charging easier for customers.

Where to Buy

The eVitara is sold exclusively through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealerships. These showrooms are equipped with EV charging infrastructure, including fast chargers, helping prospective buyers experience electric mobility firsthand.
