Russian Missile Attack Kills 7 Across Ukraine Following Warnings From President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Date:

Devastating Aerial Strikes Across Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih

Russia launched a massive combined wave of ballistic missiles and strike drones across multiple regions of Ukraine overnight, leaving at least seven people dead and over a dozen wounded. The aerial assault severely hit civilian infrastructure, residential neighborhoods, and industrial sites, causing widespread fires and heavy destruction in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, as well as the central region of Kryvyi Rih.

The overnight barrage comes just hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued an urgent public warning, alerting the nation that Russian forces were preparing another large-scale attack. Air raid sirens sounded across several provinces before powerful explosions echoed through Kyiv and neighboring administrative sectors, prompting local military administrations to deploy emergency rescue crews and urging citizens to seek shelter immediately.

Civilian Casualties and Destruction Recorded in Kryvyi Rih

The most severe loss of life occurred in the outskirts of Kryvyi Rih, President Zelenskyy’s home city in the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to official reports from the local military administration, an Iskander-M ballistic missile directly struck a private residential home, instantly killing six individuals from a single family setting, including two young girls aged 5 and 12.

Rescue teams rushed to the site as emergency personnel pulled survivors from the burning debris. Local authorities confirmed that at least eight other residents sustained severe injuries, ranging from shrapnel wounds to blast trauma. Officials warned that the casualties could climb higher as search-and-rescue teams continue clearing crushed structural elements and searching for missing persons trapped beneath the rubble.

Kyiv Target Barrage and Emergency Operations

In Kyiv, military administration authorities reported that Russian ballistic missiles targeted several urban districts, triggering fires in residential sectors and damaging public facilities. At least one person was reported dead in the capital, with several others injured due to falling missile debris and secondary fires. Air defense units in Kyiv worked intensively throughout the night to intercept incoming aerial targets, but severe impact damage was reported across multiple locations.

Emergency responders, including urban rescue teams and municipal firefighters, operated across affected districts to extinguish blazes and stabilize weakened structures. Municipal authorities have set up mobile support hubs to assist families whose homes were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable during the overnight bombardment.

Zelenskyy’s Call for Strengthened Air Defense Capabilities

Reacting to the deadly strikes, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reaffirmed the critical necessity of bolstering Ukraine’s air defense umbrella. He pointed out that while Ukrainian forces intercepted a substantial portion of the attack drones and missiles, the nation faces an acute shortage of specialized air defense interceptors needed to counter high-velocity ballistic missiles.

Zelenskyy appealed directly to international allies, emphasizing that swift deliveries of advanced air defense systems, such as Patriot interceptor missiles, are essential to shield civilian populations and critical infrastructure from recurring aerial assaults. He reiterated that stopping Russian terror requires sustained global pressure, tight enforcement of economic sanctions against the aggressor, and uninterrupted defense assistance.
