Two Arrested With Heroin in Punjab, Police Intensify Anti-Drug Crackdown

Date:

Police Arrest Two Accused With Heroin

Punjab Police achieved another breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking after arresting two individuals allegedly involved in heroin smuggling. The arrests were made during a special operation conducted as part of the state’s ongoing campaign against narcotics.

According to police officials, the suspects were intercepted during routine checking. During the search operation, officers recovered a quantity of heroin from their possession. The accused were immediately taken into custody and a case was registered against them under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The police stated that the arrest is part of a wider effort to curb drug trafficking networks operating across Punjab. Authorities believe that strict action against smugglers is necessary to tackle the growing problem of drug abuse and illegal trade in the region.

Police Operation Based on Intelligence Inputs

Officials revealed that the arrest was carried out after police received specific intelligence about suspicious activity in the area. Acting on the tip-off, a police team set up checkpoints and began monitoring the movement of suspects.

When the accused arrived at the location, police stopped them for questioning. During the search, heroin was allegedly recovered from their possession, confirming the information received earlier.

The suspects were immediately detained and taken to the police station for further investigation.

Investigation Underway to Identify Drug Network

Police believe that the two arrested individuals may be linked to a larger drug trafficking network. During interrogation, officers are trying to determine the source of the heroin and the intended destination of the narcotics.

Authorities are also investigating whether the accused were supplying drugs to local dealers or transporting them to other districts.

Drug trafficking has remained a major challenge for law enforcement agencies in Punjab due to the presence of smuggling routes and organized networks. Several operations in recent years have resulted in large drug seizures and arrests.

Case Registered Under NDPS Act

A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act, which deals with offences related to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The law provides strict punishment for those involved in the production, possession, transportation, and sale of illegal drugs.

Police officials confirmed that the arrested suspects will be produced before a court, and further interrogation will be carried out to gather more details about the case.

Investigators are also trying to determine whether the suspects have any previous criminal records related to drug trafficking.

Punjab Police Continue Anti-Drug Campaign

The arrests come amid intensified efforts by Punjab authorities to eliminate drug trafficking from the state. Police have been conducting raids, surveillance operations, and intelligence-based actions to dismantle drug networks.

Officials say the crackdown will continue and anyone involved in the illegal drug trade will face strict legal action.

The police have also urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities related to drug smuggling.
