Chaos in Supreme Court: Attempt to Throw Shoe at CJI B.R. Gavai

On Monday, the Supreme Court witnessed a major commotion when a lawyer allegedly tried to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai. Security personnel quickly intervened and took the individual into custody.

Details of the Incident

Reports indicate that the lawyer, identified as Rakesh Kishore, entered a crowded courtroom and began shouting:

He then attempted to throw his shoe at CJI Gavai. Duty security staff promptly stopped him before any harm could occur.

Immediate Action Taken

The Supreme Court Police immediately detained the accused and began questioning him. DCPs of New Delhi district and the Supreme Court were also present at the scene to oversee the situation.

Context of the Incident

The incident occurred while a bench led by CJI Gavai was hearing cases filed by lawyers. The accused lawyer reached the judge’s podium and attempted the shoe-throwing, but was stopped in time. While being escorted out, he continued shouting:

Throughout the incident, CJI Gavai remained calm and instructed that court proceedings continue uninterrupted. He stated that such incidents do not affect him or the functioning of the judiciary
