Chandigarh, September 16, 2026: Two members have been co-opted/nominated to the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, according to a report by Babushahi Network.
The two members are Justice Jaishree Thakur, former Judge of the High Court, and Gursharan Kaur Mann, Senior Advocate.

Justice Jaishree Thakur, who has previously served as a High Court judge, and Senior Advocate Gursharan Kaur Mann have been included through the co-option/nomination process.
The development brings their experience in the judiciary and legal profession to the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana.
Bar Council to function under judicial guidance
The report also stated that it was clarified that the Bar Council will work under the guidance of the judiciary.
The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana is the statutory body representing advocates practising in the states of Punjab and Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The latest nominations come at a time when issues concerning the legal profession, advocates and the functioning of Bar institutions continue to remain important for the legal community across the region.
