Official Announcement: Local Holiday Declared in Gurdaspur District

Date:

The district administration of Gurdaspur has officially declared a local holiday for all government and private educational institutions as well as government offices across the district. This decision has been taken keeping in mind local administrative directives and historical observance traditions in the region. The notification issued by the local administration aims to ensure smooth civic management and give officials, students, and citizens adequate time to participate in district-level events while maintaining public order and safety.

Scope of the Holiday Declaration

According to the official circular issued by the competent district authority, the local holiday will be observed across all primary, middle, high, and senior secondary schools, colleges, and administrative offices within the geographical boundaries of Gurdaspur district. Both government-managed institutions and privately operated establishments are instructed to comply with the order. The administration emphasized that this local holiday applies specifically to Gurdaspur district and does not alter the general calendar for other districts across Punjab.

Directives for Ongoing Examinations and Essential Services

The official notification clearly highlights specific exemptions regarding educational assessments and critical public services. Educational institutions where pre-scheduled board examinations, university exams, or competitive tests are slated to take place will continue their operations without disruption. Students appearing for these examinations and the faculty members assigned to examination duties must report to their respective centers as scheduled. Furthermore, essential public utility departments, including emergency medical services, civil defense, municipal sanitation, and police personnel, will remain fully operational to serve the public.

Public Safety and Traffic Management Measures

In light of the anticipated movement of citizens and local gatherings during the holiday, the district police and civil administration have put comprehensive security arrangements in place. Traffic personnel have been deployed at major intersections, transit hubs, and commercial centers to manage vehicle flow and prevent congestion. Local authorities have urged residents to follow traffic advisories, plan their commute in advance, and cooperate with law enforcement personnel to ensure a peaceful and hassle-free observance throughout the day.
