Gold and Silver Prices Fall Sharply on October 30: Check Latest City-Wise Rates Ahead of Festival Season

Date:

Overview of Today’s Precious Metals Market

Precious metal markets in India witnessed a notable downward correction as bullion rates dropped across major trading hubs. According to data from the All India Bullion association, both gold and silver recorded significant losses during today’s trading session, bringing relief to retail buyers looking forward to festive purchases. Market analysts attribute this sudden correction to a combination of profit-booking, stronger global inflation figures, and shifting macroeconomic cues impacting international bullion futures. Despite the recent dip, consumer interest remains robust as families prepare for upcoming festive shopping.

City-Wise Breakdown of Gold and Silver Rates

Retail bullion prices varied slightly across major metropolitan cities due to local logistics and regional taxes. In Delhi, 24-carat gold hovered around ₹14,402 per gram, while 22-carat gold stood close to ₹13,180 per gram. Similarly, financial hubs like Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata recorded proportional adjustments, with silver prices experiencing a steeper correction. Silver 999 plummeted significantly, trading near ₹1.89 lakh per kilogram in most major markets. Retailers note that these fluctuations provide a dynamic pricing environment for investors and jewellery buyers alike.

Key Factors Driving the Price Correction

Market experts point out that recent international developments heavily influenced domestic bullion trends. Stronger-than-expected US PCE inflation data reinforced expectations that the US Federal Reserve may keep interest rates elevated or consider another policy tweak, putting downward pressure on non-yielding assets. Furthermore, massive profit booking by institutional investors on MCX futures contributed to the sharp sell-off. While gold experienced moderate losses, silver suffered a sharper multi-fold decline due to industrial demand adjustments and broader commodity market liquidations.

Shopping Advice for Festival Buyers

With festive occasions drawing closer, retail buyers are advised to monitor daily market trends closely before making major jewellery or bullion investments. Experts suggest comparing rates across certified jewellers and verifying hallmark purity to ensure maximum value. While short-term volatility is expected to persist due to global cues, the recent price correction presents a favorable window for consumers planning traditional purchases for upcoming celebrations.
