Date:

India Creates History with Record Run Chase

Team India scripted history at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, by chasing down a massive target of 339 runs against Australia in the Women’s World Cup 2025 semi-final. This chase marks a world record in women’s cricket for the highest successful chase in a knockout match.
India defeated Australia by 5 wickets with 9 balls to spare, ending Australia’s 8-year unbeaten streak in World Cup matches.

Jemimah Rodrigues: The Star of the Show

The standout performer of the match was Jemimah Rodrigues, who played a stunning unbeaten knock of 127 runs off 134 balls, including 14 fours. Entering the crease early after Shafali Verma’s dismissal, Jemimah anchored the innings with maturity and precision.
She reached her half-century in 57 balls and completed her century in 115 balls, marking her third ODI century of the year. Her crucial partnership with Harmanpreet Kaur was the turning point of the game. For her match-winning innings, Jemimah was named the Player of the Match.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s Powerful Knock

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur showcased her class once again, scoring 89 runs off 65 balls at a strike rate above 100. She not only supported Jemimah but also kept the momentum alive with aggressive shots. This was her third consecutive half-century against Australia in knockout matches, proving her big-match temperament.

India’s Historic Win

This victory is monumental — India became the first team in women’s ODI history to chase such a massive total. The triumph ended Australia’s 15-match winning streak in World Cups, making India’s achievement even more remarkable. With this, India has entered the Women’s World Cup Final after eight years, setting the stage for a thrilling title clash.
