Date:

Tragic Bus–Lorry Collision in Andhra Pradesh

A devastating road accident in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has claimed the lives of at least 13 people, while more than 20 others were injured after a private bus collided with a lorry and caught fire. The tragic incident occurred near Rayavaram in Prakasam district during the early hours of Thursday.

According to preliminary reports, the private travel bus was on its way from Jagityala to Kaligiri when it rammed into a tipper lorry carrying construction material. The impact of the collision triggered a massive fire that quickly engulfed the bus, leaving several passengers trapped inside.

Authorities said the flames spread rapidly after the crash, making rescue efforts extremely challenging. Many passengers were unable to escape in time, leading to a high number of fatalities.

Passengers Trapped as Bus Engulfed in Flames

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus caught fire immediately after the collision, creating panic among passengers. Thick smoke and flames quickly spread throughout the vehicle, trapping several people inside.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the accident. Firefighters worked for hours to control the blaze while police and emergency personnel attempted to pull survivors from the burning bus.

Officials confirmed that around 20 injured passengers were rescued and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

Rescue Operation and Identification of Victims

Local authorities, along with firefighters and medical teams, launched an immediate rescue operation at the accident site. After extinguishing the flames, rescue workers recovered several bodies from the charred remains of the bus.

Police officials said identification of the victims is underway. Many passengers suffered severe burn injuries, which has made the identification process difficult.

The injured passengers were shifted to hospitals in nearby towns for medical treatment. Doctors are monitoring the condition of those who sustained serious injuries.

Chief Minister Orders Investigation

Following the tragic accident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep shock over the incident and directed officials to provide the best possible treatment to the injured.

The Chief Minister also ordered a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident. Authorities have been asked to submit a comprehensive report after examining the circumstances that led to the crash.

Officials believe factors such as speeding, heavy vehicle movement, or driver error may have contributed to the collision, though the exact cause will be determined after the investigation.

Road Safety Concerns Highlighted

The accident has once again raised serious concerns about road safety and traffic management on highways in the region. The stretch where the accident occurred is known for frequent movement of heavy vehicles such as trucks and tipper lorries.

Authorities have urged drivers to follow traffic regulations strictly and remain cautious while driving, especially on highways with heavy commercial vehicle traffic.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the deadly accident.
