Jammu & Kashmir Weather Update: Rain, Thunderstorms Likely; Heatwave Alert in Jammu Region

Date:

Cloudy Skies and Rain Forecast Across J&K

The weather in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to remain dynamic over the coming days, with the Meteorological Department predicting generally cloudy conditions along with light rain and thunderstorms. According to the latest update, several areas may experience brief showers accompanied by gusty winds, especially during the afternoon or evening hours.

Residents may also witness occasional hailstorms in isolated regions, which could impact outdoor activities and travel plans.

Weather Outlook for April 29–30

As per the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar, the weather on April 29 and 30 is expected to remain partly cloudy. While most areas will see stable conditions, some locations—particularly during late afternoons—may receive light rain or experience thunderstorm activity.

The intermittent rain is expected to bring temporary relief from rising temperatures in certain areas.

Forecast Till May 8: Mixed Weather Conditions

The forecast suggests that from May 1 to 2, weather conditions will largely remain dry, although light showers cannot be ruled out entirely. Between May 3 and 4, cloud cover is likely to increase again, with chances of light rain and thunderstorms in scattered areas.

From May 5 to 8, most regions are expected to experience predominantly dry weather, with only isolated chances of rainfall.

This fluctuation indicates a transitional weather phase in the region.

Heatwave Warning in Jammu Division

While parts of the union territory will witness rain, the Jammu division is expected to face hot and dry conditions. Districts such as Kathua, Samba, Reasi, and Udhampur may experience heatwave-like conditions over the next 24 hours.

Authorities have warned residents to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours and to stay hydrated.

Advisory Issued for Farmers and Residents

The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory urging farmers to temporarily suspend agricultural activities on April 28 due to the possibility of adverse weather conditions.

Residents are also advised to remain cautious, follow official updates, and take necessary precautions against sudden weather changes, including strong winds and thunderstorms.
