CM Bhagwant Mann Expresses Gratitude

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann thanked all those who supported the state during the recent floods. Speaking to the media, he said:
“We are grateful to the people who helped Punjab in these testing times. Those who rose above politics and gave constructive suggestions will also see their advice implemented soon. We are working beyond party lines to provide rightful facilities to the people. Elections come every year, but right now, the priority is to stand with Punjab and provide relief to those affected.”

Relief Work to Begin Before Diwali

CM Mann announced that relief operations will start from October 15, and compensation cheques will be distributed directly to the victims before Diwali. This will ensure that farmers are financially prepared to celebrate the festival.

Key Compensation Measures:

  • ₹7,200 per acre for desilting, whether done using diesel, JCB, or tractor.

  • ₹47,500 compensation for every 2.5 acres of farmland completely destroyed by floods.

  • ₹18,800 for land eroded along riverbanks.

  • Girdawari (crop damage assessment) to be completed within 40 days.

A Festival of Light After Years of Darkness

The Chief Minister assured that cheques will be handed over within days to flood-affected families, so that they can celebrate Diwali with light and happiness this year.
“For years, people have been forced to celebrate dark Diwalis, but this time, the festival will truly light up their homes,” Mann said.

He also confirmed that relief efforts will continue beyond Diwali to ensure long-term support for all affected families.
